Al rushed back to the Slytherin Common Room after his graceful display at supper. He was surprised and quite releaved to see that the common room was deserted and quite except for the occasional crackle of the fire in the hearth.
Al decided to make himself comfortable in a leather armchair next to the fireplace. Adjacent to his chair sat a marble coffee table on which sat a leather book without a title. It was black, tattered and had a huge gaping hole in the center. "What the Hell?" he questioned. Al's curiousity got the best of him and he picked up the book to examine it farther. As he flipped throught the worn and burnt pages he was disappointed to learn that it was indeed blank. "well that is anti-climatic" he said sarcastically. "hmm.. maybe it is fire activated" He walked over to the flame and held the book over. Strangely it did not catch but it did make an odd hissing sound. Al knew that was not normal. Perhaps i should read up on charmed books in the library and maybe i can figure out who the author or lack there of is. Al tucked the book into his robes.
He then got up from his armchair and paced the room for a while. "I guess what happend at supper was not that bad. I mean I can always blame it on some sort of hex or spell or something of that sort. Besides now that I have this book, it will give me something to do and also provide me with a reason to be a recluse for a while. I can always seek refuge in the library, it has never let me down before." He was finally calmed down and just in time because supper had just officially let out.
